Dancing with Clay
The joy of working with ceramics came to me later in life, following retirement from a career in architecture and construction management.
All of my work is hand-built. With a great affinity for nature, working with earth (clay), fire, color, and pattern was a natural fit for me. I consider my work a dance between myself and the clay. My manipulations are intertwined with the responses of the clay. The sensual curves of my vases have been noted to be evocative of the female figure.
I studied ceramics at Sierra College and artist workshops. My work is available at Auburn Old Town Gallery and has been included in exhibits at the Granucci Gallery, Blue Line Arts, Art League of Lincoln, and Courtyard Suites Gallery. I occasionally show at local craft fairs and Artists of the Oaks Art Studio Tour.
When I am not hands deep in clay, I can be found in my garden, on a hiking trail, or floating or kayaking in the local waters.
